Ford Recalling 1.46M Focus Vehicles

Ford Motor is recalling 1.46 million Ford Focus cars in North America to fix a defect that could lead to stalling. The recall affects the 2012 through 2018 model-year Focus with 2-liter GDI and 2-liter GTDI engines.

Ford warned that customers should keep their fuel tanks at least half full until their cars are fixed. The issue stems from a defective canister purge valve that could become stuck in an open position, causing deformation of the fuel tank.

Tesla Model S Recall

Recalls in the automotive world are common occurrences.  From the Takata airbag debacle to the Mercedes Benz fire recall. No manufacturer is immune to recalls. Tesla announced it will voluntarily recall 53,000 vehicles due to a parking brake issue.  The recall affects Model S and Model X produced between February to October 2016.

Hyundai / Kia RECALL ALERT!!!

Hyundai and Kia are recalling a total of 1,190,160 vehicles because the engine may seize, resulting in a crash. The following vehicles are affected.

  • Hyundai Sonata and Santa Fe Sport 2013-2014
  • Kia Optima 2011-2014
  • Kia Sorento 2012-2014
  • Kia Sportage 2011-2013

Investigations have found errors during the machining process.  Which can cause a bearing in the engine to prematurely wear. This could cause the part to fail and causing the engine to seize. The issue was found due to the high number of warranty repairs for a recurring issue by both manufacturers.
